Associate of Arts, Oregon Transfer (AAOT)

Two-Year Associate of Arts, Oregon Transfer Degree

The Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT) degree prepares students to transfer to an Oregon university with the guarantee that the student has met all of the lower-division general education requirements for the Oregon universities. Upon acceptance at an Oregon university, the student is given “junior status” for registration purposes. The AAOT does not guarantee admissions into specific departments or programs and does not guarantee admission into the student’s Oregon university of choice.

Credit for Prior Learning

This degree may provide prior learning credit and extended learning opportunities for persons previously or currently employed in related professions.

Program Requirements


For courses to meet general education requirements, they must be collegiate-level numbered (e.g., 100 or higher). Colleges and universities may have particular general education requirements. Transfer students must be aware that the AAOT does not automatically fulfill course requirements for programs. 

  • All courses must be passed with a grade of “C” or better.
  • Students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 at the time the AAOT is awarded.
  • Transfer students must be aware of the second language requirement for the particular school and bachelor’s degree they are seeking.
  • Candidates for the degree must complete one course from any discipline studies that is designated as meeting the statewide criteria for cultural literacy. 
  • Candidates must complete a minimum of 24 credit hours at KCC. Challenge credits or credit transferred from another institution may not be used to fulfill this requirement.
  • No more than nine credits of Special Studies or Work Experience apply. 
  • No more than three credits of physical education courses apply.
  • Students must complete electives as required to bring the total number of credits to 90. Students should meet with transfer advisors to align elective coursework to meet Oregon university general education transfer requirements or workforce professional/technical requirements. Electives will vary with academic plans. See your advisor for more information.
  • Only 12 credits of career and technical education courses can be taken in the AAOT.
  • Number of credit hours necessary for completion: 90.

Communications


Oral Communications

Writing

Students must complete a minimum of eight credits in this general education requirement. For information about placement in a writing course, please refer to the: Writing Pathway .

Health and Wellness


Students must complete a minimum of three credits in this general education requirement.

Computation


Students must complete a minimum of four credits in this general education requirement.

Science / Math / Computer Science


Students must complete a minimum of 16 credits from at least two disciplines including at least three laboratory courses in biological and/or physical science.

Electives


Students must complete electives as required to bring the total number of credits to 90.
