Athletics

Purpose of Athletics and Sports Clubs

The Athletics and Sports Clubs program at [Community College Name] provides opportunities for students to participate in organized sports, develop teamwork skills, and engage in healthy competition. Participation supports student success by promoting wellness, social connection, and leadership.

Participation and Eligibility

Students are welcome to participate in athletics and sports clubs if they:

  • Students can participate in club teams if they are currently enrolled in at least one credit-bearing course at the College.
  • Official NWAC athletic participation requires students to be enrolled in minimum 12 credits and be in good academic standing.
  • Meet any activity-specific requirements (e.g., club registration, signed liability waivers, physical health forms).
  • Maintain satisfactory academic standing as defined by the College.

Intramural Sports and Sports Clubs

  • Intramural sports are open to all students and focus on friendly competition, fitness, and fun.
  • Sports clubs provide students the chance to form or join teams in specific sports, which may involve competition with other colleges. Clubs are student-led with College support and advising.
  • Participation fees, uniforms, and travel costs may apply for some activities.

Health and Safety

  • All participants must sign a liability waiver before taking part in athletic or club sports activities.
  • Students are encouraged to carry personal health insurance; the College is not responsible for injuries sustained during voluntary participation.
  • Injuries should be reported immediately to supervising staff, advisors, or coaches.

Code of Conduct

Students participating in athletics and sports clubs are expected to:

  • Abide by the Student Code of Conduct and represent the College positively.
  • Demonstrate respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and facilities.
  • Avoid the use of alcohol, drugs, or other prohibited substances during College-sponsored activities.

Facilities and Equipment

  • College athletic facilities are available for use by students during posted hours.
  • Equipment must be checked out and returned in good condition. Students may be charged for lost or damaged items.
  • Appropriate attire and footwear are required in fitness and athletic spaces.
