Less-Than-One-Year Certificate of Completion
Klamath Community College’s Welding Technology Program offers three less-than-one-year certificate programs designed to provide students a competitive advantage in the labor market. Students may choose one or more certificates as a first step to employment or further education. Certificates are offered in Shielded Metal Arc & Stick Welding, Gas Metal Arc & Wire-Feed Welding, and Gas Tungsten Arc (TIG) Welding.
Certificate completion provides students entry-level skills and a pathway to careers in welding and fabrication in various industries or lends credibility to existing skills for career advancement. Credits required for each certificate transition directly to a One Year Certificate in Welding or Technical Studies and an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Technical Studies. This alignment allows students to build on successful program completion while pursuing additional educational goals.
COURSE OF STUDY
In order to complete the program of study for each certificate, the student must satisfactorily complete 12 credits of specialized welding instruction. Outcomes: All students completing one or more of these certificates will be able to safely and effectively apply specialized welding techniques and industry best-practices to craft durable, high-quality welds in various materials. The coursework contains proficiencies necessary to submit work samples for the practical welding assessment though the American Welding Society.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
Each certificate consists of four complimentary classes, totaling 12 credits, designed to train students in a specific welding specialty.
