Less-Than-One-Year Certificate of Completion
The Biological and Biotechnology Laboratory Technician Career Pathway Certificate will prepare students for entry-level research work in a field or laboratory setting. The pathway certificate may be earned with a total of 33 credits over two to three terms. The student may then choose to continue to the one-year certification or AAS degree.
This certificate is targeted towards individuals that are passionate about science and technology but do not have the luxury of a lengthy time investment. This target audience may include traditional students, GED graduates, and career retraining.
Program Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the Biological and Biotechnology Laboratory Technician Career Pathway Certificate, students will be able to:
- Explain and properly apply the scientific method.
- Prepare written and oral scientific communications that use tables, graphs, and sample calculations to report results.
- Critically evaluate contributions to science reported in all forms of media and be able to identify valid approaches to scientific inquiry, problem solving, and reporting.
- Demonstrate (show) proficiency in basic laboratory skills common to clinical and non-clinical research laboratories.
