BIO 240 - Forensic DNA Biology4.00 credits
Lecture of lab-centered course focusing on forensic DNA analysis. Emphasis placed on analysis of PCR products resolved via capillary electrophoresis - the STRs loci of CODIS and the SNPs of mtDNA for the assessment of identity, ethnic origin, and maternal lineage. Recommended: Successful completion of a one-year biology course within the last three years. Prerequisites: MTH 070 or MTH 095 or MTH 111 or placement into MTH 095 or MTH 111 and WRI 121.
